Question: Are Velcro or snap closures better?

Answer:
Aplix closures (a.k.a. hook and loop or Velcro) make for quick changes and are easy for those new to cloth diapering and caregivers. Some newborns are startled by the sound. Others are not. It can get caught on other laundered items if not properly fastened to itself before washing.

Snap closures may be a better choice for those devious toddlers who outwit the Velcro closure and then take great pleasure in taking off their diapers and running around naked. Snap closures which are not quite as fast for changing can be a little tricky for those with poor eyesight.
